The first race at the Bahrain International Circuit took place on 4 April 2004. It made history as the first Formula One Grand Prix to be held in the Middle East.
The circuit was designed by Hermann Tilke,with circuit length of 5.412 km.Michael Schumacher for Ferrari won the very first race at Sakhir.
The Bahrain Ministry of Transportation issued five stamps to mark the event.The stamps depict technical line work drawings of Formula One cars and the Sakhir Tower printed over vivid backgrounds.
